About

Observation and practice – two of my key words to keep repeating to myself. Learning any skill is journey and practice is essential to growth and getting closer to the a goal that you might have.

In 2020 I started painting with watercolor and found that to be fun and relaxing. I’m still on the road to gaining the skills that I’d like to have and I’m my own worst critic. When I’m too hard on myself, I remind myself that it’s a journey and to keep plugging along. If I don’t do something creative for a time, I start to crave it.

Doug Moore trying to look creative

In 2022 I decided to give acrylics a try and immediately fell in love. They can be more forgiving than watercolor but in many ways they share a lot of similarities.

Maine is a great place to live for the creative inspiration that’s required in the painting process. I enjoy going out and taking photographs – sometimes to be used as a reference for painting.
